A good positive grain combination that
is very affordable for those on a tight budget in hard times. The mixture of jasmine rice
and whole oats help keep you feeling full for longer than one or two hours especially in
the morning when you need to get through till lunch time. I'm not a doctor or
scientist, just a creative cook that has discovered through trial and error what works
best for me and my family. I believe these grains combined together continue to
absorb fluids in the stomach while in their al dente state, keeping you full
longer.
Have you ever noticed just eating rice alone burns fast in your
stomach and you are hungry in just an hour or so? Same thing with just plain
oatmeal, it burns fast too. The combination of the two allows you not to feel
hungry for a longer period of time.
Be experimental with this basic recipe and learn how to master the
consistency and taste you like, add new things. I just learned that if you add a few
dashes of nutmeg after the final boil and stir it in, it will add a very unique
taste that is very pleasing.
Don't cook in a boil, just let it rest after it comes to a
boil!
You need Jasmine Rice that has a 20 minute
cooking time and the oats need to be the old fashioned ones, not the quick ones.
